Wike says crime has drastically reduced in Abuja

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has stated that crime has drastically reduced in the FCT.

Wike disclosed this during his monthly media chat with top journalists in the Federal Capital Territory.

He said, “It is our responsibility to protect life. It’s not just because a colleague of yours is involved, and that means it’s a spike.

“But if another person dies, you won’t bother about it. If you give us statistics say look that to say look, security agencies have done well. The rate of crime drastically reduced. That does not mean that you cannot see any crime being committed.

“All over the world, every day you wake up, crime is being committed here and there. So when you talk about the spike, what is your statistics? Just because a colleague of yours, something happened yesterday.”

Meanwhile, the FCG minister
has said that the administration of President Bola Tinubu was unable to provide solutions to every development project in the capital of the country.

Wike made this statement in reaction to Peter Obi’s critique of the government at the centre over the appalling condition of public schools in the nation’s capital.

Obi, who toured the LEA Primary School in Kapwa, said he was shocked to find classrooms without chairs or toilets — a scene he said no responsible nation should tolerate.

In this reaction, Wike said, “I heard him when he was saying that public schools are in dilapidated nature across the Federal Capital Territory.

“We cannot solve every problem as far as development is concerned. Government is a continuum. There were several administrations before we came, and other administrations will come after us.”
