Regina Daniels has been on drug overdose for eight months, rushed her to hospital three times – Ned Nwoko

Senator representing Delta North, Ned Nwoko, has alleged that he had been dealing with Regina Daniels’ drug overdose for eight months, claiming he rushed her to the hospital on three occasions over the matter.

Nwoko and Daniels, his wife and Nollywood actress, have been having a serious family squabble which has been put in the public glare.

The actress accused Nwoko of arresting her brother Sammy and locking him up in prison after she decided to leave the house, following a recent incident in which she accused the politician husband of domestic violence.

Speaking in an interview with NAN on Sunday, Nwoko insisted that Daniels must undergo rehabilitation to address drug abuse and safeguard her well-being.

He said the decision was necessary for the 25-year-old actress to be in the right state of mind to raise their two children.

The lawmaker said his stance followed a series of “alarming” toxicology reports indicating “high levels of harmful substances in Daniels’ system”.

According to Nwoko, his wife’s calm personality had changed in recent months, as she began exhibiting “violent and destructive behaviour” alongside recurring health crises.

“I want her alive and healthy, not just for me, but for our children,” he said.

“We have two young kids together, and they cannot fight for themselves, so I’m going to fight for them by safeguarding their mother.

“Many people have died of drug overdose, and if anything happens to her now, what will I tell her children tomorrow?

“I have lived with this problem for eight months, and on three occasions, I had to carry her to Nizamiye Hospital unconscious from a drug overdose — you can go verify it.”

Nwoko said he wanted Daniels to raise their children in “a sane and healthy environment”, adding that rehabilitation would prevent her from accessing drugs while she completes her treatment.

The senator also presented toxicology results of the actress, insisting that anyone discouraging her from seeking proper medical care was “her real enemy and that of her children”.

He said the reports showed several substances with toxic levels, dismissing recent statements by Regina’s mother and siblings on the drug abuse allegations as “baseless distractions”.

“That is why I am saying that everybody has to calm down and join hands to save her,” he said.

“But she and her mother are living in denial. If they really want to prove me wrong, let them arrange for her to visit any toxicologist of their choice — I will pay.”

Nwoko also alleged that Daniels’ close friends and siblings, particularly her brother Sammy influenced her and enabled her access to drugs.

“Her close relations and friends that I trusted around her are the ones exploiting her resources to supply her with drugs, leaving her addicted,” he said.

“Imagine the pain of a husband trying to help his wife recover from an addiction, only to have the process sabotaged by her siblings and friends. Each time progress was made, they would undo it by smuggling in the same drugs she was fighting to give up.”

The senator criticised a recent social media post by Daniels’ mother Rita, alleging that his son died from a drug overdose in the United Kingdom, describing the claim as “an inhuman attack on the dead”.

He said autopsy results did not show drug-related complications as the cause of death.

The couple’s marital crisis has been ongoing since October, when a viral video showed Daniels in tears, accusing Nwoko of domestic violence.

The senator responded by alleging his wife was struggling with drug and alcohol addiction.

Earlier today, Daniels admitted to using hard drugs but accused Nwoko of orchestrating her addiction as part of a pattern of control and manipulation.

She also alleged that the lawmaker is in possession of her private sex tape.
