US warns Nigerians to beware of visa fraud

The United States Embassy in Abuja has sent a stern warning to Nigerians on the serious consequences of visa fraud.
The Embassy issued this warning in a post on its verified X handle,, stressing that falsifying information or submitting fake documents can result in permanent visa bans.
“Visa fraud has serious consequences. Lying or providing fake documents can lead to permanent visa bans under US immigration law. This means you will never go,” it said.
The warning emanated when US Ambassador Richard Mills and Nigerian Foreign Minister Yusuf Tuggar, had a meeting, where they both discussed areas of cooperation between the two countries.
The discussions come against the backdrop of the prevailing diplomatic attention on Nigeria’s internal security situation.
Recall that not too long ago, some US lawmakers described attacks on communities, especially in the North and Middle Belt, as serious violations of religious freedom.
The US Congress also urged stronger collaboration between the US and Nigerian governments to protect vulnerable populations.
