EFCC arrests female archbishop after members sprayed naira notes on cow during church service

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Angel Oyeghe, a self-acclaimed archbishop and founder of Faith Healing Ministry in Warri, Delta State.

In a statement on Wednesday, EFCC said Oyeghe was arrested on Tuesday over a viral video in which “several individuals under her supervision were seen spraying naira notes on a live cow during a church programme”.

The anti-graft agency adderd that the archbishop would be charged to court for conspiracy, naira mutilation, and alleged money laundering.

EFCC said that she was apprehended by the operatives of its Benin zonal directorate.

“The Commission is on the trail of arresting other suspects, as their action contravenes the provision of Section 21 of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007,” the statement reads.

“Archbishop Oyeghe has made useful statements and will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.”
