You’ve been scammed, go after who sold land to you, Wike’s aide tells ex-Chief of Naval Staff

Lere Olayinka, media aide to Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has urged former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo, to use his position to go after who sold the disputed parcel of land in Abuja to him.

On Tuesday, a videos surfaced online showing Wike in a heated argument with a Naval officer in military uniform, AM Yerima, at a site.

Wike had a confrontation with the military officer at Plot 1946, Gaduwa District, Abuja, with the shouting match stemming from a dispute over ownership and development rights to a parcel of land allegedly linked to a former Chief of Naval Staff.

The FCT minister, accompanied by senior officials of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCTA) had visited the site with a bulldozer to halt what he described as an “illegal construction”, when he confronted a naval officer allegedly supervising the property.

Wike was seen expressing outrage at the officer’s presence, insisting that no individual, regardless of their military affiliation, was above the law.

The minister, who addressed journalists after the confrontation, said he would not be intimidated or blackmailed.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Olayinka said Gambo has been scammed for building duplexes on a parcel of land meant for park and recreation in the FCT.

“Former Chief of Naval Staff,  Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo, was scammed. He was duped by someone who sold the land to him and other people,” he wrote.

“He needs to use his Military Might against the person who sold land meant for PARK and RECREATION to him to build DUPLEXES, not FCTA officials carrying out their lawful duties.”
