Remo Stars suffer 5-1 demolition in hands ofi Sundowns in CAF Champions League

Champions of the Nigeria Premier Football League Remo Stars have been taught a football lesson by

Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, who whitewashed the Nigerian top flight team 5-1 in a CAF Champions League fixture decided in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Sundowns set the ball rolling by scoring the opener after 12 minutes into the start of the game, before they doubled their lead just before halftime.

The South African side, whose fans call them ‘The Brazilians’ hit their third goal of the trip to the shores of Nigeria on 60th minute. They were simply imperious in attack as they soon increased their tally of goals in the 75th minute.

Dazed, battered and mesmerized by their travelling opponents from the Rainbow nation, Remo Stars tried to fight back and we’re fortunate to see Samson Olasupo pull a goal back for the home team almost immediately only for Sundowns to complete the rout five minutes from time.

The 5–1 outcome has left Sundowns. with one foot firmly in the group stage ahead of the second leg in Pretoria next weekend

The overall winners of this fixture will progress to the lucrative stage of the CAF Champions League.
