Nigeria issues advisory to citizens in Qatar over Israel, Iran war

The raging battle between the US backed Israel and Iran has escalated with the embassy of Nigeria in Doha issuing a security advisory to Nigerian nationals in Qatar, urging them to register their presence and comply strictly with safety directives from Qatari authorities, as the crisis in the Middle East escalates.
In a statement issued late Saturday, the embassy said the advisory was necessary “in view of the evolving security situation in the region”.
It urged Nigerians living in Qatar to register by sending their personal details to nigerianembassy.doha@gmail.com.
The required information includes full name, contact address in Qatar, mobile number, and copies of their international passport and/or Qatar Identification (QID) card.
The mission further told citizens to take all precautionary measures as directed by host authorities and to rely only on official channels of communication for updates.
“The Embassy is monitoring the situation and will provide updates as and when necessary,” the statement reads.
The advisory is coming after a fresh round of military strikes between Israel and Iran.
The latest escalation was triggered after joint US and Israeli strikes on multiple Iranian cities early Saturday.
Israeli authorities described the operation as a pre-emptive move aimed at degrading Iran’s offensive capabilities.
Iran subsequently retaliated by launching drones and missiles towards Israeli territory.
