Finland’s Prime Minister Petteri Orpo has said tariffs don’t serve anyone as European leaders continued to criticize US President Donald Trump’s threats over Greenland

Trump yesterday announced plans to impose a 10% tariff on goods from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands and Finland from 1 February

French president Emmanuel Macron is working to co-ordinate the European response to what Macron has called “unacceptable” tariff threats made by President Trump, according to the Elysee Palace.

He will be in contact with his European counterparts throughout the day and will request, on behalf of France, that the European Union activates its “anti-coercion instrument” if the United States imposes tariffs in the standoff over Greenland, his team says.
