Minister of defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, resigns

Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has resigned from President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet.
The resignation is said to be with immediate effect.
In a letter dated December 1. the minister he is resigning based on health grounds.
Appointed on August 21, 2023, as minister, he spent two-term as governor of Jigawa State.
Tinubu is likely to inform senate of his intention to appoint a replacement later this week.
Abubakar’s resignation comes amid rising insecurity in the country.
Last week, the President declared emergency nationwide over insecurity.
