Barcelona make La Liga history against Osasuna

Barcelona have made history despite finding it difficult to break the deadlock against Osasuna at the Spotify Camp Nou until Raphinha struck in the 70th minute, beating Sergio Herrera from the edge of the box.

That goal allowed Hansi Flick’s side to extend their run to 37 consecutive La Liga matches with a goal, equaling the second best streak in the club’s history.

With the Brazilian’s goal, Barcelona matched the mark set by Ernesto Valverde’s team between February 2018 and February 2019, when they also scored in 37 straight league matches.

Still far ahead are the 63 consecutive games with a goal recorded by Barcelona from February 2012 to October 2013, a period that included Pep Guardiola from February 2012 to May 2012, Tito Vilanova and Jordi Roura from August 2012 to May 2013, and Tata Martino from August 2013 to October of that same year.

In the round prior to the Osasuna match, Barça defeated Betis to equal the 36 match scoring streak achieved by Juan José Nogués’ side between November 1942 and February 1944.

If Barcelona score against Villarreal at La Cerámica next Sunday, they will bag a new outright second longest scoring run in this category in the club’s history.
