Bandits complied with directive to release 38 CAC worshippers, says Onanuga

Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has revealed how the 38 members of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) abducted in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The worshippers were taken from the church last Tuesday during an evening service. However, they were released on Sunday, with Nigerians questioning the fate of the Fulani terrorists who killed three other churchgoers before abducting the victims.

However, in an interview with Arise TV on Monday, Onanuga said the military and the Department of State Security (DSS) were involved in the rescue.

He mentioned that the security operatives contacted the bandits and compelled them to release the victims.

He said the bandits had no other option but to comply because they know the consequences of defying government directives.

“They made contact with the bandits to secure the release of the captives. Security agencies have systems for tracking these criminals, allowing them to monitor developments in real time. They reached out to the kidnappers and demanded the release of the victims, and they complied, aware of the consequences of defying government directives,” he said.
