In an exclusive interview with Al Jazeera, external, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says that, following the death of Khamenei, a new supreme leader may be selected in “a day or two”.
It comes after Tehran announced an interim leadership who Araghchi says “will act as in charge of the leadership before a new leader is elected”.
He adds that Iran’s strikes are “an act of self-defence and retaliation to the American aggression against us”.
