Cameroon ref to officiate Nigeria, Mozambique Round of 16 clash

Super Eagles round of 16 clash with Mozambique will be officiated by a Cameroon referee Abdou Abdel Mafire.
The Confederations of African Football (CAF) confirmed three Cameroonian and two Tunisians as the referee team for Nigeria’s next match at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations AFCON 2025 in Morocco.
29 years old Mafire is the centre referee, to be supported by compatriots Elvis Guy Noupue Nguegoue and Carine Atezambong Fomo as Assistant referees 1 and 2 respectively.
Mafire earlier took charge of the group A game between Morocco and Mali that finished 1-1. He awarded two penalties in the encounter.
The match also had several stoppages from 44 tackles, leading to 37 fouls and eight yellow cards were brandished.
Tunisian official Haythem Guirat will lead the video assistant referee, with Khalil Hassani the assistant VAR referee. Gabon’s Tanguy Patrice Mebiame will be on the sideline as the fourth official.
Nigeria and Mozambique will clash at the Fes Sports Complex on MJanuary 5 for a chance to progress into the quarter final /stage.
Nigeria won all three matches to finish top of Group C, while Mozambique reached the knockout stage as one of four best third-placed nations.
